Dr. Smith is Board certified in internal medicine as well as cardiovascular disease with a subspeciality in Cardiac Electrophysiology.
Dr. Smith is a native of Georgia, completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia. He completed his Medical School training at Mercer University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Wake Forest, serving as Chief Resident during 2013-2014. Dr. Smith completed his Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship and Clinical Electrophysiology at Wake Forest. As an electrophysiologist he will be performing complex procedures involving the heart’s electrical activity including all types of atrial and ventricular arrhythmia ablations and pacemaker and defibrillator implants. He will also perform PFO and ASD closure procedures and left atrial appendage closure procedures.
